Wow! How the heck is it half way through Feb already?

The first 7 weeks of 2018 have gone by in a bit of a blur of digging deep, rolling the sleeves up and pushing forward.

This has been on both a business and a personal level.

Before I go on – Here’s a high 5 to every single person on the treadmill of life, sometimes it can be exhausting, and I want to do an extra high 5 to those who a persevering despite setbacks, challenges or difficult decisions.

As with all my blogs, they are based on something that I’ve experienced or witnessed, and today’s is no different.

1st Jan 2018 I was full of the usual heady optimism of the New Year, Fresh Start almost euphoric. Then the daily routine kicked back in….

I love what I do for a living, I adore my family and I couldn’t do what I do without the unwavering support of my husband and closest friends.

But by the end of the first week, the optimism was waning.  Where were my next new clients coming from? How can I help IC to go in to nursery without crying that I was leaving (always fine within seconds of me leaving) and generally, how could I be better?

So, for the first time in a long time, I slowed the treadmill down.  I stopped trying to be wonder woman, super mum and the perfect wife.

I wrote a list.

I love a list and write them all the time. But this, this was a proper list.  Broken down into sections. I took the time to formulate a plan for each area of my life.

I was kind to myself, I set targets that were achievable and didn’t require me to sacrifice sleep, my life, my family, my friends.

This is where perseverance had to kick in, I had to keep disciplined, stick to my list and take my time.  Resisting the urge to rush ahead and leave my list behind.

Sticking to this, has meant that I have had to go against my own nature at times, I’ve learnt to say no. To not respond instantly, to not do everything to make everyone else happy.

The result… I am more relaxed.  I’ve achieved more in my business and I truly believe that me and the husband are on the same page and are fundamentally stronger together.
